"An Opportunity for Transformation While Processing Loss: Does it Exist?" Keynote Presenter: Laurel Hilliker, PhD, FT

**Credentials for accessing the conference will be provided via email approximately one week prior to the event.**

In this virtual, interactive conference, Dr. Laurel Hilliker, PhD, FT (Fellow in Thanatology), will address personal and professional experiences of transformative grief, focusing on what helps and what derails the journey. She will examine current discourse in both the scholarly research and the general public regarding the transformative nature of grieving a loss. This assessment will include the impact of different factors on the process of transformation and lead into an overview of different types of transformation, including cognitive, normative and existential aspects. Lastly, Dr. Hilliker will explore a new concept [Grief-ism] for consideration as a creative approach for support purposes that offers fresh insights on grief literacy.

This virtual, interactive conference is open to and appropriate for those who work in the fields of counseling, palliative care, hospice, funeral services, and more. Beginning at 9am (EST), the conference will last until 3pm (including a break for lunch). The structure will include presentations from Dr. Hilliker, online conversation with fellow participants, and multiple opportunities for Q&A.
